Job Title: Site Agent – Civil Engineering / Water Infrastructure

Overview

A leading independent civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Site Agent to join its Water Division, playing a key role in the delivery of complex civil engineering projects within the wastewater infrastructure sector. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of site-level project delivery, ensuring that construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Site Agent will work collaboratively with engineers, commercial teams, subcontractors, and onsite personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day delivery of site construction activities, ensuring construction operations run smoothly from initial planning to project completion.
• Prioritise and ensure the safety, health, and environmental standards of all site operations.
• Plan, programme, and coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor resources to support seamless project execution.
• Supervise subcontractors and site teams, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, and other key stakeholders to achieve successful project delivery.
• Monitor progress against project schedules and identify any delays, risks, or challenges during delivery.
• Resolve technical and operational challenges swiftly and efficiently, mitigating potential disruptions to site operations.
• Maintain detailed site records, progress reports, and construction documentation for review and audit.
• Contribute to short-term and long-term project planning and assist in programme management.
• Oversee cost control by monitoring and optimising the use of resources, including labour, plant, and materials.
• Ensure construction sequences are properly planned to maximise productivity and fulfil contractual requirements.
• Promote a culture of collaboration and accountability across the entire site team.

Qualifications

Required:

• Substantial background in civil engineering, infrastructure, or water sector project delivery.
• Proven experience in leading onsite construction teams and managing complex civil engineering works.
• Expertise in delivering reinforced concrete packages, deep drainage systems, and underground infrastructure projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality management standards in construction.
• Strong skills in planning, resource coordination, and sequencing construction activities.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
• Problem-solving abilities to address onsite issues and implement practical solutions effectively.

Desirable:

• CSCS Black Managers Card certification.
• Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) or Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) certification.
• An Appointed Person qualification in Lifting Operations.
• Knowledge of HSG47 – Avoiding Danger from Underground Services.
• First Aid certification.

• Coordinate daily resource allocation, including labour, equipment, and materials, in line with project timelines.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and resolve technical challenges as they arise.
• Lead daily safety briefings and promote a proactive safety culture onsite.
• Continuously monitor timelines to identify potential risks or inefficiencies and implement improvement measures.
• Prepare and maintain up-to-date records, including progress reports and compliance documentation.
• Act as the primary point of contact between onsite teams and senior management.
• Collaborate with the Quantity Surveyors and engineers to manage costs and project finances effectively.
