Responsibilities

As an HSQE Advisor, you will:

• Ensure compliance with HSQE standards, legislation, company procedures, and industry best practices.
• Provide expert HSQE support and guidance to site and operational teams.
• Conduct regular audits, inspections, and reviews across various construction and civil engineering projects.
• Lead and support incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Actively cultivate a robust health, safety, quality, and environmental culture throughout all operations.
• Advise management and site teams on legislation, regulations, and best practices relevant to the construction industry.
• Develop and implement effective HSQE procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor compliance and recommend actions to secure improvements.
• Collaborate with project teams, management, and operational personnel to uphold high standards of HSQE performance.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience working in an HSQE role within the construction or civil engineering sector.
• Strong knowledge of UK HSQE legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Hands-on experience conducting audits, inspections, and leading incident investigations.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate site teams and management.
• A proactive mindset toward identifying risks and driving continuous improvement.

Desirable Requirements

• Professional chartership or active pursuit of professional chartership.
• Experience in water or energy sector projects.
• Background in contractor-led construction or civil engineering projects.
• Relevant professional HSQE qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).

Day-to-day

On a daily basis, you will:

• Conduct thorough site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company HSQE standards.
• Provide real-time guidance and support to operational teams, ensuring safe work practices.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives by collaborating with teams to identify and mitigate risks.
• Act as a key point of contact for all HSQE-related matters, facilitating training sessions and awareness programs.
• Support or lead the investigation of incidents and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Monitor industry regulations and adjust internal practices to align with legislative changes and develop best practices.
