Overview
Location: Hybrid (UK-based)
Salary: £44,399 – £50,740 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

Working closely with Category Managers, internal stakeholders, and suppliers, you’ll have the chance to drive compliance, deliver effective sourcing, and optimise supplier relationships in a role that has tangible organisational impact.
Responsibilities
As a Procurement Specialist, you will report to the Category Manager and work within the broader Procurement Team. Key responsibilities include:
- Supplier Relationship Management: Manage contracts and supplier relationships to maximise commercial value and ensure beneficial outcomes for the organisation.
- Sourcing Events: Plan and execute both regulated and non-regulated sourcing events efficiently and in line with legislative/organisational requirements.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the main procurement point of contact for internal stakeholders, resolving sourcing, procurement, and contract-related queries.
- Compliance and Accreditation: Maintain and manage the Approved Vendor List, ensuring all suppliers meet accreditation and compliance standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and enhance supplier and contractor performance through regular reviews and performance evaluations.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement policies, procedures, and practices across the organisation.
- Audit and Documentation: Ensure a transparent and robust audit trail by maintaining accurate records of sourcing events, contracts, and vendor documentation.
- Collaboration and Relationship Building: Foster strong partnerships across departments, as well as with suppliers, to support strategic procurement objectives effectively.
- Improvement Initiatives: Bring a proactive mindset to identify opportunities to refine processes and increase operational efficiencies.
- Training and Knowledge Development: Stay informed about organisational policies, procedures, and developments, actively supporting and coaching peers where necessary.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- At least 2 A-Levels or equivalent qualifications.
- Demonstrable experience in procurement, contracting, or supplier management roles.
- Strong understanding of commercial and contractual principles.
- Proficiency in supplier relationship and performance management.
- Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Thorough working knowledge of procurement processes, policies, and documentation.
- Able to effectively organise workloads, prioritising while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently, within tight timelines, while contributing collaboratively to a larger, diverse team.
- Proactive problem-solving capabilities combined with an interest in continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Additional professional experience or certifications in procurement, commercial, or contract management (e.g., CIPS or equivalent).
- Experience within safety-critical industries or public procurement.
Day-to-Day
On an average day, you will:
- Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to manage ongoing procurement projects.
- Organise and document procurement activities to maintain compliance and a robust audit trail.
- Review supplier performance and conduct follow-ups where necessary to improve outcomes.
- Manage and deliver sourcing events and contractual negotiations.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to procurement improvement initiatives.
- Communicate with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide commercial/procurement expertise.
- Update the Approved Vendor List and review supplier compliance and accreditation.
- Ensure all procurement activity aligns with organisational values, emphasizing transparency and innovation.
