Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Site Engineer to support the successful delivery of civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring work is carried out safely, accurately, and efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards on site.


Key Responsibilities

Technical & Site Management

  • Set out, level, and survey the site using modern instruments (GPS, total station, etc.)

  • Interpret technical drawings and ensure work aligns with project specifications.

  • Assist in planning, sequencing, and coordinating daily site activities.

  • Monitor site progress and quality, identifying and resolving technical issues promptly.

  • Support the Site Manager and Project Engineer with day-to-day operations.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate site records including as-builts, check sheets, and inspection reports.

  • Ensure work complies with design, quality standards, and contract requirements.

  • Conduct and document quality checks in line with the Inspection & Test Plan (ITP).

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Promote and uphold a strong health and safety culture on site.

  • Ensure all activities comply with H&S regulations, RAMS, and company policies.

  • Report incidents, near-misses, and potential hazards.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and the wider project team.

  • Communicate technical information clearly to site teams.

  • Attend progress meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.


Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Experience working on civil engineering or construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of site engineering techniques and surveying equipment.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.

  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality.

Desirable:

  • CSCS card.

  • Experience using AutoCAD and site management software.

  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification.

  • Full UK driving licence
