Join a reputable civil engineering and infrastructure contractor as a Planner, where you'll play a critical role in the successful delivery of complex projects. You'll be responsible for creating, managing, and monitoring project programmes, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Responsibilities

As a Planner, your duties will include:

• Developing and managing detailed construction programmes that are realistic, achievable, and aligned with project and site requirements.
• Producing, maintaining, and updating NEC3 and NEC4 programmes for submission, acceptance, and project reporting.
• Monitoring project progress, identifying potential delays, and mitigating risks through proactive problem-solving.
• Collaborating with operational teams to implement effective recovery strategies aligned with project goals.
• Reviewing compensation events and evaluating their impact while providing evidence to support contractual claims.
• Assisting commercial teams with resource, cost, and project planning using programme-related insights.
• Contributing to pre-construction planning activities and tender programmes at the outset of projects.
• Preparing regular programme updates, forecasts, and progress reports for stakeholders.
• Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, site teams, and key stakeholders to ensure smooth programme delivery.
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members as part of a collaborative and cohesive planning team.
• Identifying areas for improvement in programme management and promoting best practices across projects.

Qualifications

Essential:

• Proven experience as a Planner in civil engineering, infrastructure, or construction projects.
• Expertise in developing, managing, and monitoring construction programmes.
• Strong understanding of construction planning, resource management, progress tracking, and project sequencing.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including operational and commercial stakeholders.
• Ability to identify delays, analyze their impact, and develop effective mitigation plans.
• Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to work confidently and independently.
• Aptitude for multitasking and handling competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desired:

• Background in engineering, site management, or project management.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and their programme-related requirements.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
• Experience contributing to tendering and pre-construction planning.
• Knowledge of multi-disciplinary or complex construction projects.

Day-to-Day

Your typical day will involve:

• Collaborating with engineering and site teams to refine project sequences and schedules.
• Analyzing progress reports and monitoring project timelines to flag potential risks.
• Interacting with clients and stakeholders to provide updates and ensure alignment on project milestones.
• Revising programmes based on real-time site observations and contractual changes.
• Preparing compelling and data-driven progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Managing competing deadlines and priorities while providing mentorship to junior planners.
• Using planning software, such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, to create accurate and efficient schedules.
