Key Responsibilities
As a Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the success of energy-focused civil engineering projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Project Delivery: Oversee the end-to-end delivery of projects, from tender handover to completion, ensuring they meet client expectations and align with contract obligations.
- Client Relations: Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular meetings and updates, ensuring a seamless stakeholder experience.
- Resource Planning: Plan and manage manpower, materials, transport, and equipment effectively to optimise resource utilisation.
- Risk Management: Develop and monitor project-specific risk and opportunity registers, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of risks.
- Team Leadership: Drive site team performance, foster professional growth, and lead the adoption of a safe working environment under the Right Work Code.
- Programme Oversight: Collaborate with site teams to review and implement target programmes, ensuring alignment with design and procurement timelines.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality-focused strategies, driving a defect avoidance approach through to completion and the defects period.
- Budget Oversight: Work closely with the commercial team to track contract performance, forecast costs, and analyse commercial value.
- Brand Advocacy: Represent the organisation's values and brand positively, aligning with organisational standards.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role within heavy civil engineering projects.
- A relevant Civil Engineering qualification (e.g., HND, degree, or equivalent).
Desirable
- Previous experience in delivering energy-focused projects.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
On a typical day as a Project Manager, you can expect to:
- Host and participate in project-related meetings, including client discussions and subcontract pre-start briefings.
- Review and adjust project programmes to ensure timelines and milestones are met.
- Collaborate with site teams to resolve on-site challenges and uphold the highest safety standards.
- Engage with the commercial team to review cost forecasts and assess project profitability.
- Monitor risks and opportunities and refine mitigation strategies in consultation with stakeholders.
- Contribute to driving quality outputs by ensuring adherence to project specifications and defect avoidance strategies.
