Job Title: Planner

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage construction programmes that are realistic, achievable, and contractually compliant.
  • Produce, submit, and maintain NEC3/NEC4 programmes in line with contractual requirements.
  • Monitor progress on site, identify delays, and collaborate with site teams to implement mitigation strategies.
  • Review compensation events and variations, producing robust programme evidence to support contractual claims.
  • Provide programme-related input into cost and resource planning for the commercial teams.
  • Communicate clear, accurate progress updates and forecasts to stakeholders, internal teams, and clients.
  • Develop tender programmes to support competitive preconstruction submissions.
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams and key stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support junior planners, fostering a collaborative and innovative planning team environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Planner role is preferred but not essential.
  • A background in engineering, site management, or project management is desirable.
  • Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and construction contracts is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in ASTA Powerproject is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Exposure to a diverse range of civil engineering projects is beneficial.

Day-to-Day

  • Create detailed, clear, and actionable project schedules in collaboration with site and commercial teams.
  • Assess project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure the programme is aligned with site realities.
  • Monitor ongoing projects to evaluate progress and identify potential bottlenecks or delays.
  • Generate clear, concise progress reports for internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Liaise with site teams to understand daily challenges and propose practical solutions.
  • Review and adapt schedules to accommodate changes, compensation events, and variations.
  • Support preconstruction teams by developing competitive programmes that align with project tenders.
  • Engage in regular collaboration sessions with project teams and provide mentorship to junior planners.
