Responsibilities
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading a high-profile project from inception to completion. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Leadership and Team Management: Oversee and motivate a diverse and talented project team, ensuring efficient collaboration and productivity.
- Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, and local stakeholders, ensuring strong professional relationships.
- Project Planning: Develop and maintain construction methodologies, detailed programmes, and project strategies to ensure the smooth progression of the project.
- Design Oversight: Supervise design development and ensure alignment with project objectives and technical specifications.
- Operational Excellence: Coordinate site operations to ensure delivery is on time, within scope, and on budget, while prioritizing safety and compliance.
- Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, ensure cost control, and maintain contractual obligations under the NEC framework.
- Quality Standards: Deliver the project to the highest standards, maintaining quality across all aspects of demolition, construction, refurbishment, and fit-out.
- Risk Management: Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans to address challenges proactively.
Qualifications
We are looking for a driven, experienced, and highly skilled Senior Project Manager who thrives in complex, large-scale construction projects. The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager within a major or regional contracting organization.
- A track record of successfully delivering large-scale projects valued at £20m or more.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and foster a collaborative working environment.
- Demonstrated ability in client-relations and building strong stakeholder partnerships that focus on long-term impact.
- Solid understanding of construction processes, contracts (ideally NEC), and public sector regulations.
- Knowledge and experience in complex scopes including heritage refurbishments, structural works, highways, and public realm improvements will be advantageous.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills to ensure project success.
- Relevant professional qualifications in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent disciplines.

Day-to-Day
On a typical day as a Senior Project Manager, you will:
- Lead planning and project delivery meetings with internal project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Assist the team with the resolution of technical queries, ensuring compliance with designs and specifications.
- Monitor construction progress against project milestones and adapt the project plan as necessary to ensure success.
- Engage with designers, subcontractors, and suppliers to manage detailed execution strategies across phases.
- Oversee site safety inspections to ensure all works are compliant with health and safety standards.
- Review financial reports and provide input to drive efficiency while prioritizing quality and safety.
- Develop progress reports and provide project updates to the senior leadership team.
