Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to lead critical RC (reinforced concrete) frame and bridgeworks construction as part of a major infrastructure project. As a key member of the team, you will oversee the entire project lifecycle, delivering technical excellence while maintaining safety, quality, and budget objectives.

This role offers an opportunity to contribute to one of the region’s most significant transport improvement projects. By fostering collaboration, driving results, and ensuring meticulous technical oversight, the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering world-class infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Take ownership of RC frame and bridge construction packages, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed programme, specifications, and budgets.
  • Plan and oversee sequencing and execution of concrete, formwork, reinforcement, and structural activities.
  • Manage site operations, ensuring works are conducted safely, promptly, and to the highest standards.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, local authorities, and internal teams.
  • Facilitate communication between engineers, planners, and commercial teams to maintain alignment.
  • Lead progress meetings and produce timely reports for senior management and project stakeholders.

Commercial & Cost Control

  • Monitor project budgets, taking proactive steps to manage costs effectively.
  • Support procurement activities and subcontractor management, including evaluating quotes and overseeing performance.
  • Maintain accurate progress records and provide regular project forecasts.

Technical Oversight

  • Review drawings, method statements, and risk assessments to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Ensure appropriate utilisation of formwork systems (e.g., PERI, Doka, RMD) for efficient and safe project execution.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges, liaising with design and engineering teams as needed.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Cultivate a culture of safety and ensure adherence to Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, on-site audits, and inspections to guarantee a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Rigorously follow quality assurance processes during all phases of the project.

Team Management

  • Lead, support, and inspire a multidisciplinary site team to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure commitments are met and quality standards maintained.
  • Mentor junior staff to foster development and ensure a high-performing workforce.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Site Manager in large-scale civil engineering or concrete structure projects.
  • Solid technical knowledge of reinforced concrete (RC) frame and bridge construction.
  • Familiarity with modern formwork systems such as PERI, Doka, or RMD.
  • Understanding of highways, drainage, and infrastructure construction practices.
  • Comprehensive project management skills, including budget oversight and team management.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.

Preferred:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (HNC/HND accepted).

Day-To-Day

  • Organising and managing resources on-site to meet project milestones.
  • Monitoring the daily progress of RC frame constructions, formwork installations, and bridge builds.
  • Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Conducting safety audits, team briefings, and promoting best practices in health & safety compliance.
  • Engaging with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to resolve project challenges.
  • Regularly reporting on project progress, challenges, costs, and risks to internal leadership and clients.
  • Developing innovative solutions to meet operational challenges in a cost-effective and timely manner.
  • Providing hands-on leadership to foster a productive, inclusive, and motivated project team.
