Responsibilities
As a Senior Site Engineer, you will take a leadership role in the technical delivery of projects, working closely with site management teams while mentoring and supporting junior engineers. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Setting Out & Surveying: Performing all setting out, surveying, and levelling activities using modern surveying equipment accurately.
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring all construction activities meet approved drawings, specifications, and Irish Building Regulations.
- Technical Support: Providing technical guidance to site management, subcontractors, and other stakeholders throughout the construction process.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborating with architects, structural engineers, design consultants, and utility providers to resolve technical challenges.
- Site Inspections: Conducting regular site visits to monitor progress, identify potential defects, and implement timely corrective actions.
- Documentation & Reporting: Preparing and maintaining accurate engineering records, as-built drawings, site reports, and quality control documentation.
- Project Coordination: Assisting in the planning, sequencing, and coordination of construction activities to optimise efficiency and minimise delays.
- Health & Safety: Ensuring strict compliance with Health & Safety legislation, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Mentorship: Guiding and mentoring junior engineers, promoting best engineering practices and a collaborative site culture.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and industry experience, and must possess:
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years' experience working as a Site Engineer, preferably on residential construction projects.
- Strong setting out and surveying skills with experience using modern surveying equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, construction methods, and quality standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
- A full clean driving license.
Day-to-Day
As a Senior Site Engineer, your daily tasks may include:
- Working closely with site management to ensure technical requirements are implemented seamlessly.
- Setting out and surveying works to ensure accuracy and alignment with plans.
- Collaborating with subcontractors, architects, and consultants to resolve technical challenges.
- Conducting quality inspections and ensuring compliance with construction standards and Irish regulations.
- Preparing progress reports and engineering documentation for the site management and project stakeholders.
- Leading toolbox talks and promoting a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Supporting the Site Manager in coordinating the schedule and progression of on-site activities.
- Providing mentorship, technical training, and ongoing support to junior engineers.
