Job Title: Managing Director - Class 2 HGV Crane Driver
Overview
An established and growing company based in Erith is seeking a highly skilled and professional Class 2 HGV Crane (HIAB) Driver to join its dynamic team in a permanent, full-time capacity. This role offers the chance to work with a modern, high-specification DAF multi-axle rigid flatbed fitted with a heavy-duty lorry-mounted crane. Responsibilities
As the successful candidate, your key duties will include:
- Operating a Class 2 DAF multi-axle rigid flatbed vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Handling the lorry-mounted HIAB crane for loading and unloading heavy goods with precision and care.
- Conducting daily vehicle checks and promptly reporting any defects.
- Ensuring all loads are secured using appropriate strapping and chaining technology.
- Representing the company professionally at various customer sites.
- Adhering to EU Drivers' Hours regulations, the Working Time Directive, and site-specific health and safety standards.
- Maintaining a clean, presentable vehicle at all times, reflecting our company's commitment to professionalism.
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:
- A valid UK Category C (Class 2) HGV licence.
- A maximum of six penalty points (drivers with DR, DD, or IN endorsements are not eligible due to insurance requirements).
- A valid ALLMI or ITSSAR Lorry Loader (HIAB) qualification.
- A current Driver CPC qualification card.
- A valid Digital Tachograph card.
- At least two years’ experience operating HGV Class 2 vehicles and lorry-mounted cranes.
- Proficient knowledge of load restraint and safe lifting procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, safety-conscious demeanor.
- Pride in maintaining company vehicles to high standards.
Experience using a remote-control HIAB crane is advantageous, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
Day-to-Day
Your daily schedule will include:
- Conducting pre-drive vehicle inspections and addressing any identified issues.
- Driving to various sites, ensuring timely and secure delivery of goods.
- Safely operating the HIAB crane for loading or unloading activities.
- Engaging with customers and ensuring satisfaction with the service provided.
- Observing all relevant traffic, driving, and corporate safety regulations.
- Keeping the vehicle in excellent condition by maintaining cleanliness inside and out.
Work hours typically fall within Monday to Friday, with 10-hour shifts (starting times vary based on site location). Occasional Saturday overtime is also available.
