Responsibilities

The Site Engineer will take ownership of various engineering aspects of projects, working collaboratively to ensure they are delivered safely, accurately, and in accordance with specifications. Responsibilities include:

• Setting Out & Surveying: Accurately conduct site setting out using tools such as GPS and Total Stations. Establish site control points and perform topographical surveys.
• Drawing & Specification Review: Analyse engineering drawings and technical documentation to resolve potential issues before work begins.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure all construction activities meet project specifications, industry standards, and building regulations. Maintain detailed, accurate records such as site diaries, as-built surveys, and QA documentation.
• Site Coordination: Collaborate closely with the project team, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless workflows and clear communication throughout construction phases.
• Problem-solving: Proactively address technical challenges by working with the design team to develop effective and efficient solutions.
• Progress Monitoring: Track project milestones and construction progress, reporting any deviations promptly.
• Compliance & Safety: Uphold health, safety, and environmental standards, ensuring all works comply with legislation, company protocols, and industry best practices.
• Temporary Works Support: Assist with temporary works coordination and delivery, ensuring compliance with approved designs.
• Community in Construction: Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful work environment, ensuring all voices are heard.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

• Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Site Engineer in the construction or civil engineering industry.
• Proficiency with surveying equipment (e.g., Leica, Trimble, Topcon Total Stations, GPS systems).
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, engineering principles, and industry standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design documents.
• Highly detail-oriented, with excellent quality assurance and documentation skills.
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive mindset.
• Strong communication and organisational skills for prioritising tasks and ensuring timely delivery.
• Proficiency with IT skills including Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software.
• Full and clean UK driving license.

Desirable Skills and Certifications:

• CSCS Card, SMSTS or SSSTS Certification.
• First Aid at Work qualification.
• Experience with contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC) or temporary works coordination.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the site team to maintain progress and resolve on-site engineering challenges.
• Conduct daily quality checks and record updates to ensure compliance with approved specifications.
• Attend site meetings with clients, consultants, and stakeholders, providing accurate technical updates.
• Perform setting out and surveying tasks and verify subcontractor works.
• Maintain transparent reporting practices, ensuring accurate records of work and materials used.
• Identify and escalate risks to both safety and project timelines proactively.
• Assist with project handover documentation, including commissioning records and as-built surveys.
